Presumedly, Laky is a Labrador-Podenco mix and seven years old. She met her family through the
Tierhilfe Antalya, animal welfare, (www.tierhilfe-antalya.de)
six months ago. The Tierhilfe Antalya
is a German society for the prevention of cruelty to animals which takes care of stray animals in
the holiday region of Antalya on the Turkish Riviera.
Many stray dogs and cats are still suffering where many Germans spend their holidays. Animal welfare is still in the early stages of development in Turkey. For those who spend their holidays on the Turkish Riviera and take the time to look beyond the borders of their hotel complex, cannot help seeing the misery of the stray dogs and cats. There is routine poisoning of strays but that ultimately doesn't change much in regard to the population density. Researchers found out a long time ago that the population has reached the same status again within one year. It would make more sense to spay, vaccinate and take care of the existing animals so that they stay healthy. That would steady the population. Since August 2004, the Tierhilfe Antalya e.V. has been Supporting various private animal rights activists in the region of Antalya who devotionally take care of stray animals, spay and vaccinate them as well as provide them with feed. Injured animals are treated and nursed back to health. This has already given many animals the help they so desperately needed. Laky was also one of the very fortunate ones who even found a new family in Germany. Since then she has been bringing joy to their lives every day. In the beginning she was very cautious but then she adjusted very quickly to her new life and in time got to be much more self-confident. She's a very goofy, happy dog. She never wants to miss a thing, loves long walks and is a real little clown. She is also an extreme glutton which thankfully you would never assume if you saw her. She enjoys meeting up with her doggie friends and when she does she prefers losing the leash. Laky is the best dog you could imagine and her family sincerely hopes that she'll be around for many years to come. |
