Dogspaghetti - the brand you feel.
Cult snack among dog owners. Favourite treat among dogs: Dogspaghetti® - the million-fold sold bestseller. The label has now been redesigned. Except for the design, nothing is surprising. However, there is something absolutely new in the pet care branch: we will be the first to design the label including Braille.
That is good new for the Holiday Season because we did not just think about the dogs, but also their owners. As of January, the product with the so-called Braille script will be available in retail stores.
On all accounts, this is a meaningful idea.
According to the WHO Report of 2004, 164,000 blind people and 1,066,000 people with visual impairments live in Germany.
Almost 10,000 people go blind annually and approx. 160 children are even born blind. Hopefully, other companies are also motivated to follow this example and enhance their products with the Braille script. The reactions to this innovation are overwhelming!

Mr. Heldele, the very likeable branch manager of the Fressnapf XXL branch, invited Carnello to give a presentation of our gourmet-snack products to his customers on the 3rd Advent Saturday.
Well placed and with a friendly welcome, we started off, without snow, on a pre-Christmas shopping Saturday. Every driver that successfully mastered the traffic chaos in the Blaubeurerstrasse was awarded a tasty, free sample from us.
And who would have thought it: A star appeared on the Carnello stand! Milow came over to see us. But it wasn't the popular singer, but his sweet namesake.
Though this four-legged friend Milow was no singing talent, he was a perfect gourmet tester. The animal instantly recognised the new Dogy-gum recipe, with its fresh, Italian chicken liver, and he was able to convince his master to put a packet in the shopping basket. Thanks again to the pleasant Ulmer Fressnapf team, and a Merry Christmas to all of the visitors!

A visit to the Alpaca farm
An unusual event was part of our team's program at the 10th of December - to the alpaca farm at Ludwigsfeld www.lindenhof-alpaka.de.
The invitation came from our overnight guest Jens Gehlert (see news October) who organised this particular visiting day for all his SpaZz readers.
To stand on the pasture with the alpaca mothers and their offspring, some of whom were only a few days old, was a great experience! Alpacas are shy, and only trained and tamed animals allow humans to approach them. But they are especially curious of human children, and this may be because children are similarly very curious creatures themselves. As well as therapeutic work with children, the Lindenhof also offers the possibility to celebrate children's birthdays there.
Due to their special wool, which is 7 times warmer than lamb's wool, alpacas are very popular and valuable animals. They can reproduce all year round, and some of the animals we saw were expecting. That's why the meadow is under constant observation because in this cold season, the little ones have to be blow-dried immediately they're born so that they don't get too cold. It is then that the baby animal is presented with a warming waistcoat.
Though alpacas look harmless, three of them could kill a wolf. They are also used as herd guards for protecting sheep. Alpacas are very frugal animals. One bale of straw per animal lasts for a whole year. The same amount of straw would only last a few days with a cow.
At the moment there are 110 alpacas, all known by name by their owner, who reside at the Lindenhof. The love of animals plays a big role here. The animals that are sold are personally driven throughout the whole of Europe to their buyers, so that breeder Bernd Maurer can check whether conditions there are good enough.
Before we rushed into the Lindenhof shop and bought some warming alpaca wool clothes, a special highlight was a visit to see the alpaca calves. Have you ever experienced the feeling of a little calf in your hand, sucking away at your finger with such devotion as though you would be its mother?
A heart-warming feeling! In the end, each of us took a piece of alpaca warmth home with us.
And let me tell you, it works!

Who has four paws and a heart that's as big as he is himself? Sir Henry ! The best known pug in Germany was again out on a mission for his
4-legged friends. He was involved in a 10-day action in the Munich luxury department store Oberpollinger in support of the Munich Tiertafel animal society. He was busy presenting the Sir Henry nursing series, of which a portion is donated for every bottle sold. Our friends at Balbina helped and there was even 10 € donated to the Tiertafel for every shirt sold. Carnello also assisted and gave away samples of Sir Henry's favourite snack – the dogy-chips.
Please try to help animal societies where you can www.tiertafel.de. They can be found in lots of towns in Germany and they help make dogs happy, even during these difficult times and especially at Christmas.

Trip to the Husky ranch of the world champion
We from Carnello took a very special trip to Penzig to see Jürgen Stolz and his 21 Siberian Huskies. We started with great weather - from the fog in Ulm directly into the sunshine - for a big shopping excursion at his store, www.stolzgmbh.de,
to a visit with the pack and a tour of the house - all in all, it was a wonderful day!
The multiple world champion of sled racing is also a successful businessman and a great animal lover of his "children", as he calls his Huskies. All of the dogs stay with him their entire life and are treated in a very caring manner. The retirees are always free to move around on the spacious grounds and the other Huskies are usually in pairs in their kennels, where they also have a warm place to retreat. This ensures that those with a lower rank within the pack are not "mobbed".
They even alternate with staying over in the house and accompaniment to the office so that every companion in turn has the full attention of its master and the family members.
The day already begins at 6 am for Jürgen Stolz and his dogs. They are harnessed, full of anticipation, to the cart / sled and drive through the beautiful nearby forests. The dogs are so happy, bark and whine with joy. He explains his Huskies' favourite pastimes as follows: first, running, then eating and then cuddling.
We also play a part in all of this - the Husky's receive our Dogy-cocktail and Dogy-gum every day. A tablespoon of Dogy-cocktail in their food supports the dogs by helping cover the high-energy demand so that they can perform well. That is why we supply Mr. Stolz with Dogy-cocktail in a 7,5 kg bucket. This special size is not available in speciality stores and can be purchased from him for other mushers.
And before Mr. Stolz goes to work every morning after training and cleaning the kennel, everyone gets an Dogy-gum and every one of the dogs loves this treat! It is great that we brought replenishment and can make them happy before we say goodbye. This day made us happy too.
This idyll, that Mr. Stolz has created for himself, his family and naturally, his Huskies, is truly paradise. Naturally, you need good friends and colleagues to help provide for and take care of the animals. There are also chickens at the Husky ranch that need to be taken care of. Thus, we were amazed by the relaxed and pleasant world champion who stressed the fact that he calls it a day at 4 PM, goes jogging, relaxes and takes care of his own well-being.
In many ways a world champion, who knows how to relax from the day-to-day stress through sport, wellness, and naturally, his Huskies. Every one of us felt how much love and joy you get just being with the animals and this will long remain a memory until our next visit. Thanks once again to Mr. Stolz and his Huskies. We wish you the best of luck and lots of fun in the world championship race in Dusseldorf this week!

Nightguard for Carnello
"Free bed for Jens?" is the question regarding the housing project of the Ulmer City Magazine Spazz. Based on that, we at Carnello made contact and invited the editor Jens Gehlert to spend the night in our office - and he came! His self-experience project started on the 15th of October when he gave up the key to his own apartment. From that point on, Jens, equipped with just a suitcase and the bare necessities, stayed every night, without a permanent residence, at a different unique place.
His 12th night was a gourmet impression. He came to us on Wednesday afternoon and after a nice, long talk and a tasty evening meal, we left the office pleased to know that he would be guarded well during this night. We made a comfortable place for our pleasant guest to sleep.
On Thursday morning, there was a lot going on; the photographer Tobias Rocholl of bildwerk89.de came and documented everything.
Even the morning gymnastics that took place this time head first, stretched out, lying down. That much exercise in the early morning makes you hungry! Good that we always have something on hand for a light snack. And Jens got to know our items and they tasted good? Well, that certainly depends on how you look at it. In any case, he left enough over for Flori ;-). We had a fun and great time and at the end, a tasty breakfast together. That would actually be the way to always start the day and we always like to have Jens as a guest and put him up for the night!

Cat Fair Kaltenberg
On the 22nd and 23rd of October, Carnello was at the 2nd Cat Fair in Kaltenberg for the very first time. The event manager Mrs. Andrea Mittermeir
was able to create a comfortable atmosphere for the visitors and exhibitors in the festival tent, just like at a Christmas market.
There were the most diverse products for cat lovers, toys, clothing with cat themes,
scratching posts, high quality food and much more at the lovingly designed booths. A large raffle with nice prize items was for the benefit of several cat protection projects.
Among other things, homes were found for cats that needed a new one.
Numerous interested visitors learned about cat spaghetti at our booth. It was especially well accepted as dental hygiene for cats. Some people came back on the second day of the fair and reported with excitement about how well their cats liked the catspaghetti®. Even the dogy-gums were accepted very well by the cats, especially by the older ones. One lady reported that her oldest male cat, who was usually very fussy and demanding about food, happily ate the catspaghetti® and her two younger cats used it to play soccer before eating it.
Yes, there is more to catspaghetti® than meets the eye.

Let's go to the Garden and Pet Event
The Garden and Pet Event took place for the 12th time in Kassel on the 15th and 16th of October in Kassel. For many, the fair is an obligatory appointment in their calendar. About 4300 visitors, 11% more than last year. Of course, Carnello had to be there too.
This year we were at the booth of a pleasant wholesaler WOKO Pet Supply who had our entire assortment available.
Many pet supply dealers ensured fair offers and learned about new products.
Some even had their own food testers with them, i.e. the dog on the last picture, who extensively tried our new recipe of our dogy-gums and tested and tested and tested. We were especially happy about the visit from our wholesaler Mr. Schamberger and his outside sales representative Mr. Erdmann.
An additional highlight was the Saturday evening fair party in the unique documenta-hall. After working successfully, exhibitors, visitors and customers partied together - with culinary specialties and great live music until the early hours of the morning.
The fair was a complete success and we were pleased by the great cooperation with WOKO. It was great to be a part of this dedicated team!

Open House at Nuber
We were invited to the anniversary open house of our nice wholesale big brother Nuber from Helmsheim on the 1st and 2nd of October.
Many pet supply retailers came, even all the way from Austria and Switzerland, in order to celebrate the proud existence of the 50s anniversary of the company.
Also, many of the very first employees were present and enjoyed the social get-together. Especially family members and friends provided for outstanding food and service in the erected festival tent. We had the feeling that the entire village had brought their best classic baked goods just for the in-house exhibition. And everyone had to try several items because it was impossible to limit oneself to just one delicacy with this selection. The items were representatively presented for the dealers and as a special service; everyone had their own personal advisor!
The youngest children of Nuber families took care of the raffle ticket sales and distributed the prize items to the happy winners or took care of the youngest offspring of the Thomas Nuber family. The little lady puppy Gypsy was the highlight for all of the young visitors and was so well behaved that she already knew the commands down and sit.
We, from Carnello, were the only suppliers with our booths other than the Arcadia Company. The four-legged friends that had travelled with their owners were happy about that. Because with us, there is always something tasty to try out.
The dogy-gums were especially the top products because with the new recipe, they did not just taste better, but were optically more appealing. The weekend had a very relaxed atmosphere and was accompanied by wonderfully sunny weather. Just being together ensured that the anniversary open house was unforgettable.

pets nature
Since we have received many enquiries where to order online our dogy-chips, we thought we would bring ourselves to your attention to pets nature. This company has specialised itself in Premium Pet Food and carries only high quality cat and dog food. That is why we are so happy that since the beginning of the year, we are the suppliers of pets nature and all of our products are available there.
The corporate philosophy of our company is to feed healthy. Even for animals, the following applies: "You are what you eat".
High quality food means promoting health and keeping it. It means offering our animal companions a higher quality of life through selected food. Yet, food is only one part of a happy life for a dog or a cat. Animal-friendly treatment is just as important. That is why there are many articles about these topics of how to keep animals, nutrition,
breeding and health in the Advice Guide. In addition, the forum is there to help with all other questions.
If you visit our website www.petsnature.de, you can discover yourself what is available for your four-legged friend besides high quality and healthy products.
It is very informative and comes from the heart - you feel the love for animals!

Wiesn-Warm-Up-Party
The 5th had finally arrived again. This was already the third time that the "Wiesn-Warm-Up-Mopsparty" took place in Munich in the Augustinerkeller.
The charming hosts Sir Henry and owner Uschi Ackermann had sent out the invitations and the pugs came in droves with their chaperones.
One of our oldest and most loyal customers was also there: Mrs.Kramer with her sister from Pet Supplies Kramer.
They had travelled all the way from Wernau. Many of the guests came from even farther away, from Austria and Switzerland. To start off with, all the guests were spoiled with Bavarian delicacies. There were delicious snacks, chicken and duck with red cabbage and dumplings and for dessert the most exquisite "Kaiserschmarrn" for the two-legged guests. Our four-legged friends got our delicious dogy-chips - just as they should considering how good they are for them.
Invigorated from these delicious treats, the party could continue. Janis Nikos (www.janisnikos.de) really got the party rocking with his presentation of the latest Oktoberfest hit "Scharfe Möpse" – Sir Henry feat. Janis Nikos. It was of course not forgotten that this party was for a good cause.
Every guest donated 100 Euro for the afternoon.
Half of it was intended for the Tiertafel Munich and the other half for the Animal Shelter in the Valley www.utulokdca.sk in Slovakia.
Mrs. Ackermann footed the bill for all the entertainment expenses herself - more than generous. Therefore, 100% of the donated money could be directly given to both the associations. Knowing this, it was even more fun celebrating that afternoon!

Hunde Mannheims 2011
The Dog Festival on the May Market Grounds at the 27th of August started for the whole family under this title for the first time.
And we were there! Just follow your nose, that's how the dogs found us in the Fressnapf tent and brought their owners along as well.
As a reward, they got a delicious taster, which made them very happy. This and the great special prizes made sure that the dogspaghetti®
ended up in many shopping bags.
Despite the unsettled weather, approximately 8000 visitors were on location with countless four-legged friends.
In addition to many events and shows, there were long queues at the trendy American sport DogDiving. In this sport, the dogs jump after a ball into a pool.
There was tremendous applause from the audience after each daring jump.
The super talent Yvo Antoni with his dog Primadonna or
Kathlen's funny dog school also entertained the visitors.
This event also offered the visitors a multitude of tips and information regarding different dog topics.
Mrs. Dr. Jung explained behavioural training for dogs in detail and the dog trainer Holger Schüler reflected dog owners
their behaviour towards their dogs in a humorous manner under the motto "Man on a leash".
The younger guests were also taken into consideration.
There were several attractions including a huge slide, a go-cart track and a booth with face painting. Hunde Mannheims was a very successful event, which will hopefully be celebrated again next year.

The beautiful paintings by Axi Hohenstein tell cheerful, sensual, ironic, colourful stories with a great deal of sensitivity.
It is often merely
small details or references like in a puzzle, which combine the painting to a small story and lead the observer to read it, to decipher it.
The artist, who lives and works in Munich, selected people, interpersonal relationships but also the relationships to animals as her decisive subject. Always with a pinch of irony and a charming wink of the eye.
We at Carnello are big fans of the artist and would be thrilled if her fan base continued to grow!

Bavaria Dog
At the Bavaria Dog - some people had the same thought in Munich at the 31th of August. To be precise, more than 21.000!
They came in flocks with their dogs to the Olympia Park. This was already the second time that this great dog festival, which is organised by
Fressnapf, took place, at pleasant, dog-friendly temperatures. There were many attractions and top-class guests.
One highlight followed the next on the event grounds: The singer Jen and the comic dog Ludwig rocked the stage with their hit single "Perfect Thing".
The crowd also went crazy during the performance of Klaus Starflinger, the three-time sledge dog world champion, who played to the crowd with his dogs.
Dogs, which needed a cooling-off in between all the events, were able to do this at the dog diving with spectacular jumps into the water in some cases. The terrier mix Gustl became the dog of the event, which tricked its way into the hearts of the jury and the audience and as the winner of the big dog casting to the title of the October issue of the dog show magazine.
The highlight was a record donation amounting to 258.000 Euro, which was handed over to the German Humane Society (Deutscher Tierschutzbund). "I am exuberantly happy about these activities because we have many animal shelters, which are just about to be closed", Wolfgang Apel stated, who accepted the donation as the president of the German Humane Society.
We from Carnello were also overwhelmed by the amount of people present. Half of our products were gone by 1:00pm. Maybe that was also because of the two animal helpers, which you can see in the last picture.
A sample of the dogspaghetti® convinced the two beautiful greyhounds in such a manner that they refused to leave our booth and eagerly helped us give product advice.

There was a very special look behind the scenes in Munich on the 2nd of July. The Ludwig-Maximilians-University opened their doors of the
small animal clinic to the public. Virtually every door was opened to the interested visitors and there were many things to see: Tours through the clinic with a visit to the linear accelerator, various demonstrations to touch and take part in, cardiac ultrasound, eye examinations and exercises with the gait analysis lab. The friendly professionals also provided competent answers to all questions such as "Can my dog donate blood?" or "Is my dog overweight?".
Furthermore, there was a colourful supporting programme with performances by trick dogs, an agility obstacle course and an art exhibition. There was also a big raffle at which every(!) ticket was a winner. Uschi Ackermann did the honours of drawing first prize.
Consequently, the number of people watching was large. Not even the icy temperatures could keep the visitors away. For there was a great deal to see outside as well. Large paintings could be admired under the trees and there were several booths, which invited the guests to browse.
One of them "Dinge zum Verlieben" (www.dinge-zum-verlieben.de) had exactly that - all kinds of things with a pug dog design. And, Carnello had a delicious selection of gourmet specialties to offer. This of course also highly motivated the four-legged visitors at the booths. The dog in the last picture even had an immoral proposal - trade (completely slobbered on) dog toy for dogspaghetti®! Who could resist that … ;-)

Just look here! On the 1st of July, Carnello were at the elegant Breuninger department store in Nuremberg to offer their support to Sir Henry and his new Beauty Mission.
After the huge success at the Breuninger in Stuttgart, his new dog care series was also introduced in Nuremberg. Nowadays, and at long last, the dog of world wants to make a cultivated impression.
Sir Henry's pug-nosed friends also called by to take a look, and a closer sniff.
All that action makes one hungry. Well it's good that we were prepared and had our tasty dogy-chips in our luggage. The enthusiasm was palpable
amongst the pugs in Nuremberg. So great, in fact that one might have thought that they were not dogs, but small piranhas :-)

Animal & Nature
The Animal and Nature Fair in Fürstenfeldbruck on the 28th and 29th of May was a very special experience. Beginning at the idyllically situated event forum, surrounded by trees, a brook and meadows. In the background was a beautiful view of the baroque cloister.
A dreamlike scenery served to provide an understanding of the message of this event: The respect for all living beings and the harmony between people and nature. The special emphasis of the fair lay on healthy, organic food for humans and animals. So it was obvious that Carnello and their products would not be missing from the event! Our catspaghetti® was the top-seller and was bought as a small present for the darling at home.
There were all kinds of things on offer for both little and large visitors: Lots of speeches and participation programmes, donkey and horse riding, animal baptisms, acrobatics and a lot more. In particular the children took pleasure in the experience of stroking donkeys, llamas, nanny goats, rabbits and sheep. In addition, there was information about the active protection of animals and also suggestions regarding vegetarian and vegan foods. For us, the vegan doner kebab was the absolute highlight. A very tasty alternative and highly recommendable!

On the 21st and 22nd of May, Carnello was invited to the in-house fair at our wholesaler's, Kaysser GmbH in Waldfischbach. The weather was beautifully sunny and there were many two and four legged visitors. All guests and exhibitors were well fed and looked after by the friendly service team.
At our stand, many traders were mostly interested in the dogy-cocktail which is a must in the holiday suitcase right now in the holiday season. For those who like to travel light, the dog cocktail can be fed to dogs as a sole food source for up to one week.
Then on Saturday evening the new warehouse was inaugurated. After a tasty buffet, Mr. Kaysser introduced every single employee in his team. A special honour was presented to Ms. Beil, who has been at the company for 20 years. The presentation of the development of the family enterprise was pleasant, as well as being exciting too. The children Kristin and Konstantin will step into the shoes of their parents and continue the running of the company.
The evening programme was rounded off by an impressive Arabian fire show which captivated all of the guests - and the evening ended with the "Kaysser cocktail", especially created for this occasion.

On a Monday in May we had a pleasant visit from Gabriele Kobel. She was on the move for the charity organisation for the protection of animals "respekTiere e.V.", and amongst other things, her aim was to secure "feed procurement", so she picked up a few things at our place. Diligently we had collected feedstuff, snacks and toys too. RespekTiere is an organisation which picks up stray dogs and cats who would normally have no chance of a normal life on Sardinia and brings them to Germany with the aim of finding them adoptive homes there. The organisation's uppermost aim is prevention, birth control and castration of the animals on site. RespekTiere is also active in Germany. In the Upper Palatinate there is another preventive project founded to help farm cats. Her aims are also cooperation with other organisations and assistance to private individuals to find a good home for hard to place cats or dogs, so-called problem cases.
At the moment more than 700 (!) fully-grown stray dogs and countless puppies live at the animal home on Olbia in Sardinia. All of these animals must be fed and catered for. Moreover, another 400 cats are cared for at Capo Testa, Alghero, and in other colonies. It is because the association finances itself exclusively from donations and membership fees that this is such a big job.
Food, toys and something to chew is also urgently required for the animals that are brought to care homes in Germany. This year the dream of their own animal home has come true in Santa Teresa. RespekTiere have been donated a 10,000 square metre property, provided by the municipality, which now has to be prepared.
Any type of help, whether large or small, would be truly welcome www.respektiere.com.

Where can one meet pigs, coatis, ponies, nanny goats, hares, snakes, skunks, tortoises, elephants and lots and lots of VIPs? In the zoo?
No, in the circus and acrobatics centre in Cologne! That is where the family broadcaster Boomerang chose the animal star of 2011.
In the run-up, children could nominate their animal stars online in six categories. And then during a big TV show, the most amusing, most gifted or the most unusual domestic animals were awarded prizes on the 15th of May.
Winner of the hearts was certainly the Troisdorf animal home ( www.tierheim-troisdorf.de), which was distinguished in the special category "Best animal auxiliary project". Many voluntary assistants look after the animals there in their spare time; animals who have not had it as good as the "animal stars".
So much work had to be rewarded, of course. And thus Carnello made a big feed donation to the value of 4,500 euros and, in addition,
donated 500 euros in cash.
Jana Ina and Giovanni Zarrella led the broadcast in a charming and entertaining manner. In addition, Emma, Lilli, Luna and Dana Schweiger, Ross Antony, Enie van de Mejklokjes, Jo Weil, Bahar Kizil, Robeat and Leonie Tepe were also there.
Lots of animals and delightful catering – candy floss, popcorn, ice-cream, filled rolls, grilled stuff... There was everything there that gets a child's heart beating faster. And the best thing was that everything was free of charge for the children and their parents. At the end of an unforgettable afternoon there was a huge barbecue.

On the 15th of May, Carnello made their way down to Ilsfeld to go to the in-house fair presented by our popular wholesaler Becker-Schoell.
The support of the helpful Becker-Schoell team, who had thought of everything for the traders and exhibitors down to the last detail, was perfect.
The entertainment was presented in the Gastro tent and there was even a live music performance by a young jazz duet for the guests!
Many zoo specialist suppliers had their eye on our catspaghetti®, the only natural chewing product available for cats.
And some of our four-legged friends showed us small tricks in order to be allowed to try the dogspaghetti® next. With all of the different stands, the fair resembled a dog-style Cockaigne.
It is there that one does not have to ask the tester dogs twice if they would be prepared to work on a Sunday ;-)

Animalia
On the 14th and 15th of May, for the 8th time, St. Gallen became a popular gathering place for animal friends. More than 20,000 visitors visited the Animalia, the largest small animal fair in Switzerland.
What was on offer there was impressive: Shows, talks, presentations with guide dogs, chat courses for visitors with dogs, speeches
about house cats, tortoises and fish, a dog frisbee show, dog-dancing, Flyball and lots more.
One highlight, particularly for the children, were the many domestic and working animals who were presented in affectionately formed enclosures, appropriate to their species.
104 exhibitors presented a wide range of everything which makes an animal friend's heart beat faster.
Carnello was also present this year, feeding countless eager dogs with gourmet specialities.
The Swiss just happen to know what the good things are :-)

On the 9th of May, a pack of pugs stormed the Breuninger luxury department store in Stuttgart, led by Sir Henry, the best known pug in Germany.
Such a thing had never been seen before in these elegant surroundings. Good then, that everybody was curried and combed. This time Sir Henry was on a beauty mission and determined to introduce his new dog care line. It is the first dermatological tested care series for animals, prepared on a natural basis with all products having been developed together with a veterinarian, making them especially mild and compatible.
So much action makes dogs hungry. For fortification there were tasty dogy-chips which were devoured greedily. There was so much excitement that the lady from Carnello actually ripped her stockings. Well, pugs are not exactly known for their culinary restraint.
How lucky it was that the dogy-chips were available. And these ones support the slender line because they are nice and low-fat. So it doesn't matter if you have just one more.
Or two, or three...

World Cat Exhibition
The deutsche Edelkatze e.V. (German Persian Cat Association) organised the World Cat Exhibition on the 16th and 17th of April in the Luise Alberz Halle in Oberhausen. About 200 breeders participated in various championships and Ms. Hackmann (Chairperson of the deutsche Edelkatze e.V.) and her Dutch colleague performed an impressive stage show with numerous, varying outfits. Even the TV broadcaster RTL filmed on site for a report which was broadcast on Monday in the show "RTL Exclusiv". The World Cat Exhibition was also a first for Carnello and their catspaghetti®. But it was not only our catspaghetti® that caused a stir amongst breeders and visitors - they also found that our dogy-cocktail
is a high-quality, natural energy supplier for young breeding cats. As recommended by future champions: The Carnello dogy-cocktail

In-house Exhibition
On the 3rd of April, the wholesaler Schamberger sent out invitations to his in-house fair in Wilhermsdorf. In spite of summery temperatures, many traders decided not to miss this opportunity. As usual, they were entertained royally by the Schamberger family enterprise. After a traditional veal sausage breakfast there was a tasty lunch and then a delightful cake buffet. One or two of the Carnello employees devoured 4 (!!) pieces. Freshly fortified, the traders were able to inform themselves of all the latest novelties at the fair stands and make purchases at favourable fair conditions. Our fair best-seller this time was the incredibly multifarious dogy-cocktail
.
On the day afterwards, an emergency call reached us from a desperate fair guest whose dog had had to have an emergency operation and needed to have this particular product in order to build the dog up again. This is the ideal product for moments such as these. Mr. Schamberger immediately sent a crate of the dogy-cocktail
to the ailing beast. We also wish the animal a speedy recovery!

Leipzig is getting into dogs!
Gourmet dog snacks and books – how does all this fit together? Perfectly, because Carnello, the specialist for healthy dog snacks, were supported on the 19th of March by Sir Henry with the presentation of his latest book at the Leipzig book fair. "A Pug, A Book” is the resounding title of the volume which celebrated its premiere in Leipzig. It is the first time in the history of the book fair that an animal author has compiled reports from its own life. And in contrast to the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2008 where Henry had to reMayn outside during the presentation of his first book, in Leipzig he was allowed into the hall.
In front of an interested audience, a reading even took place. Because Henry mumbles a little, the reading was performed for him by his mistress, Uschi Ackermann. The reading was accompanied by dogy-chips which were passed amongst the visitors. Also present was Lilly, Sir Henry's new girlfriend. Whilst the audience was engrossed in the reading, she took advantage of an unobserved moment and managed to grab hold of a packet of dogy-chips, which she devoured with relish. It's an advantage worth mentioning that these dogy-chips are reduced in calories, perfect for small canine connoisseurs...

The fact that our Carnello member, our dearest Flori, is worth her weight in gold is something we have never doubted. And now that's official. On 11.4. she will be 15 years old. Anyone who lives together with an old dog knows how painful the sight is of the dog walking and climbing the stairs, the aging animal getting heavier and heavier. We tried our best but painkillers are not a long-term solution.
Then, on the internet, we discovered Dr. Rasso Mantel from Munich, Pasing. For years the professional veterinarian has used a sensational method - the implantation of gold. It is a careful and lasting (!) pain therapy for the treatment of chronic joint pains. In spite of arthritis, the afflicted dog is able to run free of pain and its quality of life is therefore improved.
The treatment, using pieces of 24 carat gold wire which are implanted under anaesthetic at the affected places by injection, comes from the USA. Unfortunately this type of treatement is not so well-known here, although some qualified veterinarians have been using this method for over 10 years. The gold has an anti-inflammatory effect on the body and does not cause any allergic reaction. It grows into the animal and stays in place.
At the beginning of March we began the mission to give Flori a last chance of a decent quality of life. And today? We're experiencing happy times with her. One sees and feels that her pain diminishes from day to day. Her gait has become smoother, and climbing the stairs has also become easier, and in the woods she runs faster. And - Flori is laughing again :-)
We're very happy to recommend the services of Dr. Mantel to you too: www.tierarzt-pasing.de.

Otto Pavlicek from Munich is a creative artist par excellence, original and highly imaginative. It is particularly his paintings with dog motifs which brought him to our attention. They are easy to fall in love with. And it came to pass that two pictures were painted “on order” for Carnello. Every day we take pleasure in the results. Munich Mercury journalist Andrea Weber wrote the following about Pavlicek's last exhibition: ”The pug, stylised in a pack, has been painted by Pavlicek on black. Every animal resembles the other, the arrangement provides a systematic pattern. The picture carries the title "Pug Coronation". Pavlicek painted it for Brigitte Bardot because the former film diva is involved a lot in work for needy animals.” To begin with, a drawing was sent in A4 size by registered post to Brigitte Bardot. And just take a look at that; Madame actually signed for the picture personally.
All we have to do now is to bring the 110 x 80 cm original to the Post Office. Oh, lá, lá...

“I don't know whether you still remember; I have not forgotten it 'til this day! Back then in autumn 2008 at the Frankfurt Book Fair. I had just written a great book "The Pug Writes Here". It was my first book and I wanted to present it there. And woof, fancy that! I as an author, Sir Henry the pug, simply wasn't allowed to enter the building! My mistress, Uschi Ackermann drummed up support from journalists, and even the television came down and filmed me in front of the closed gate. That was bitter.
There is a book fair again quite soon in Leipzig, from the 17th to the 20th of March. And I have just published my second book “A Pug, A Book", which I am holding between my paws! Will history repeat itself? Will I be a persona non grata again? No, the page has turned. This time I was even personally invited. I am even being allowed to enter the hall! At last, an author is being treated like an author. No matter whether he has two or four legs. Whosoever wishes to get to know me can meet me there on Saturday, the 19th of March. And I will show you my great book with pleasure.
Woof woof!”

Carnello would not have been created if it were not for Flori, our "tester". She was the one that gave us the determining impulse in the direction of a natural snack. And she is the one that has accompanied the creation of all of our snacks with her infallible sense of taste.
Now she is slowly getting on in years (in April she will be 15) and now everything is being done so that she can continue to accompany Carnello for a while to come. For this reason, in Februaryy we received a visit from Ms. Braunmiller, who is the owner of the dog physiotherapy clinic in Ulm with the beautiful name of Gangart. In our office, actually on site, she performed an examination of Flori.
We would very much like to make a recommendation at this point. To everybody who owns an older dog, or one that is having movement difficulties: www.gangart-ulm.de. This website inspires not only with its many natural therapy possibilities, but also gives hope.
And with hope, a dog can become old as the hills...

It was probably to be expected - and nevertheless, when the news came, it surprised us and made us sad. Ruby, the sweet, clever and playful Jack Russel bitch who was loved by our picture-story readers died on 24.01.11. Every Saturday, since the 1st of January 1994, one could follow her life story and rejoice in the tender love of her family.
And for us she was also something special. When we started years ago with our dogspaghetti® and were right at the beginning, we sent Ruby a taster. And just look what happened! Ruby found them so tasty that her master, Norbert Körzdörfer, wrote about them in his weekly Saturday picture column.
This was an event that totally inspired us :-) Rubys taste judgement was like receiving a knighthood. And since then, we sent her a package of treats every Christmas for the last 17 years.
Dear Ruby, we miss you. All the more because our Flori, who will soon be 15, looks just like you. As if she were your reflection...
